We are currently recruiting people who have who have schizophrenia and/or schizoaffective disorder AND a substance use disorder to participate in this 12 week study.

The purpose of this research study is to examine whether the antipsychotic drug brexpiprazole can help reduce substance use in individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Some recent studies have shown that drugs similar to brexpiprazole can help reduce substance craving and have been used with patients who have schizophrenia.

If you join this research, you will be randomly assigned (like flipping a coin) to either:  Switch your current antipsychotic to the study drug (brexpiprazole) OR stay on your current antipsychotic medication (treatment as usual).
